Collection Lodge

Alicia Zemanek oil Painter

The Collection Lodge is rooted in my deep connection to the natural world and the life I have chosen in the Eastern Townships in Quebec, Canada.  Living at the edge of Orford National Park, I am surrounded by forest, water, and wildlife-an environment that quietly shapes both my daily rhythm and this body of work.  Encounters with deer along wooded trails, the stillness of kayaking across nearby lakes, and the observation of birds and turtles are not just moments of inspiration, but lived experiences that anchor each painting. These quiet interactions with nature form the foundation from which my work begins.  While grounded in realism, my process is one of transformation. Through a meticulous layering of glazes, I build depth and intensity, allowing color to develop from within the surface rather than rest upon it. Light and shadow-guided by chiaroscuro-sculpt the form, but it is the accumulation of color that gives the work its presence.  Subtle infusions of shimmer and reflected light introduce a quiet radiance, where the subject begins to shift beyond servation. The surface vibrates, dissolving the boundary between the imaginary and realism.
